Accepting payments on a cam site

To banks and card networks a cam site is a high-risk business: only specialised adult processors will accept its card payments. CCBill is already integrated into the Krona.Chat platform, we recommend Segpay and CardBilling as backup processors, and we connect other providers for your project. Two or three card processors is the optimum. Besides cards, the platform accepts crypto.

CCBill — ready-made integration

CCBill is one of the longest-standing payment providers for the adult industry: in business since 1998 (Tempe, Arizona) and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and the UK FCA. The CCBill integration in Krona.Chat is ready — customers top up their token balance by card from day one.

  • cards, ACH, SEPA, giropay, iDEAL; multiple currencies with automatic detection of the buyer's currency;
  • subscriptions and rebills, upsells and cross-sales;
  • fraud tools, 3-D Secure and PSD2/SCA support, chargeback alerts (CDRN, RDR);
  • the rate is about 15%; exact terms are agreed with a CCBill manager when you open the account; weekly payouts on Mondays.

Segpay — a backup processor

Segpay has been in business since 2005 (Boca Raton, Florida; offices in Dublin, the UK and Australia), is regulated by the FCA, the Central Bank of Ireland and AUSTRAC, and explicitly serves cam and fan platforms. We recommend connecting it as a backup processor: if your primary provider restricts the account, payments keep flowing.

  • Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, JCB, Discover, PayPal, SEPA Direct Debit; 15 currencies;
  • trials and subscriptions, 3-D Secure, fraud prevention and chargeback reduction;
  • two modes: as a payment facilitator (paid on Wednesdays, two weeks in arrears) or as a gateway to your own merchant account;
  • reserve — 5% for 6 months (rolling reserve).

CardBilling — a backup processor and a cheaper alternative

CardBilling is a payment service for entertainment sites, including adult. It is affiliated with Verotel: CardBilling is a registered trade name of Yoursafe B.V., a Dutch electronic money institution supervised by De Nederlandsche Bank, and payments are processed by Verotel. We recommend CardBilling as a backup processor — just like Segpay — and as a cheaper alternative.

CardBilling terms and prices (price list):

  • 5% per transaction, all-inclusive; plus 1.5% on recurring subscription charges;
  • a one-time $500 setup fee (compliance and risk management) and a $500 annual fee;
  • a 5% reserve held for 26 weeks; $45 per chargeback;
  • Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Diners Club and Discover, subscriptions; transactions from $1.95 to $500;
  • weekly payouts on Mondays: US ACH free, EUR wire €7.50, USD wire $30, plus checks and PayPal;
  • to sign up — owner ID, AML screening and disclosure of the ultimate beneficial owner.

Other adult processors

If CCBill, Segpay and CardBilling don't fit your regions or terms, the platform can be connected to another provider. Most of them don't publish rates — terms come after underwriting.

Netherlands

Verotel

A payment service for high-risk webmasters since 1998, on the same Yoursafe B.V. platform as CardBilling. Cards, US checks, European direct debit, subscriptions. Public price chart: 13–15.5% per transaction, a 10% reserve for 6 months.

USA

Epoch

Billing for adult sites since 1996: cards, subscriptions and rebills, multiple currencies, fraud tools. Terms and rates are agreed when you sign up.

What adult processors require

The requirements for adult merchants come from Visa and Mastercard. Since October 2021 Mastercard has required verifying the age and identity of everyone on camera, moderating streams and resolving complaints within 7 business days. Since 2023 Visa has placed adult content under its VIRP programme: the bank registers each such merchant before it can take payments. So when you apply, the provider checks both the company and the site:

  • company documents, ID for directors and owners of 20% or more, bank statements, proof of domain ownership;
  • terms, privacy, refund and cancellation pages, and a page for complaints and content removal;
  • age and identity verification of every model with a government ID, plus her consent to filming and publication;
  • real-time stream moderation with the ability to stop a stream at once, complaints resolved within 7 business days and monthly reports to the provider;
  • annual Visa and Mastercard programme registration (see below) and a reserve — usually 5% for 6 months.

Annual Visa and Mastercard High-Risk fees

On top of the processor's fee, Visa and Mastercard require the merchant — the cam site owner — to pay an annual registration for processing High-Risk transactions. These fees are mandatory and are paid through your payment processor:

Mastercard

$1,000 a year

The Mastercard Registration Renewal Fee. Without the annual payment the site can't continue to process Mastercard transactions.

Visa

$950 a year

The Visa Registration Renewal Fee — annual registration of a High-Risk merchant in the Visa programme (VIRP).

That's $1,950 a year in total. Budget for these fees at launch along with the processor's fee and the reserve.

How the platform helps you pass the review

  • built-in model verification: a selfie with ID and a passport or ID scan, with an instant Telegram notification to the moderator for each upload — see the model dashboard;
  • moderators check who is in each room and whether streams follow the rules;
  • a complaints and content removal (DMCA) page that routes requests to the people responsible;
  • country geo-blocking for the whole site and for each model.

Accepting crypto: a ready-made CoinPal integration

Besides cards, the Krona.Chat platform accepts crypto. The integration with the CoinPal crypto gateway is ready: customers top up their token balance in BTC, ETH, USDT and dozens of other coins, including via Binance Pay and other popular wallets.

CoinPal has no setup or monthly fees. Crypto payments are irreversible, so there are no chargebacks, and customers in countries where cards decline adult purchases get another way to pay.

Questions about accepting payments

Which payment provider should a cam site use?

Card payments need a specialised adult processor. CCBill is already integrated into Krona.Chat; we recommend Segpay and CardBilling as backup processors. Verotel or Epoch can be connected too.

How many payment providers does a cam site need?

Two or three card processors is the optimum. An adult processor can restrict or freeze an account at any time, and backup providers keep payments flowing. For example: CCBill as the primary, Segpay and CardBilling as backups.

How is CardBilling related to Verotel?

CardBilling is a trade name of Yoursafe B.V., a Dutch electronic money institution, and payments are processed by Verotel. CardBilling charges 5% per transaction, a $500 setup fee and $500 a year; the reserve is 5% for 26 weeks.

What do you need to get approved by an adult processor?

Company and owner documents, terms, privacy, refund and complaint pages, age and identity verification of models, stream moderation, complaints resolved within 7 business days, annual Visa and Mastercard fees and a transaction reserve.

Can a cam site accept crypto?

Yes. The Krona.Chat platform has a built-in integration with the CoinPal crypto gateway: customers top up their balance in BTC, ETH, USDT and other coins. Crypto payments are irreversible, so there are no chargebacks.

What annual Visa and Mastercard fees does a cam site pay?

The Mastercard Registration Renewal Fee of $1,000 a year and the Visa Registration Renewal Fee of $950 a year for processing High-Risk transactions. Both are mandatory and paid annually through your payment processor; without them the site can't keep accepting those cards.

What do adult processors charge?

As a guide, about 15% per transaction: CCBill agrees the rate with you when you open the account, and Verotel charges 13–15.5%. CardBilling is cheaper at 5% per transaction. Add a reserve, usually 5% for 6 months, and the annual Visa ($950) and Mastercard ($1,000) fees.
